PowerSchool is the #1 leading education technology platform for K-12, serving more than 40 million users,
PowerSchool is the leading Student Information System (SIS) in North America with over 40 million users including students, parents, teachers and administrators. Established in 1997, Apple acquired the PowerSchool platform in 2001 and from then to 2006 expanded enrollment from 1 million to 3.5 million students. Pearson plc acquired the platform in 2006 to replace its existing SIS, SASIxp, which was the most popular system on the market. Concurrently, Pearson acquired Chancery SMS to meet the needs of larger school districts to complement PowerSchool, which, at the time, primarily serviced smaller school districts. By the end of 2007, the combined enrollment across the two platforms had grown to 6.5 million. PowerSchool continued to be developed for customers in districts of all sizes. In the following years, through a series of acquisitions of SIS companies, and the growth of a dedicated team of PowerSchool developers, sales and support staff, PowerSchool's capabilities and enrollment grew significantly. In June 2015, Vista Equity Partners announced that it would purchase the PowerSchool group from Pearson. The sale was completed in August of 2015, making PowerSchool the largest U.S.-owned SIS in K-12 education. Click here to view the press release. Since becoming its own company, PowerSchool has committed to providing a best-in-class, cohesive platform to improve the education experience through innovative technology. In November 2015, PowerSchool Group acquired InfoSnap, the leading provider of cloud-based enrollment and registration management solutions serving over 10,000 schools worldwide. The purchase adds best-of-class registration services to PowerSchools product mix. Click here to view the press release. In February 2016, PowerSchool acquired Interactive Achievement, a leading formative assessment and data analytics platform with a 90+% adoption rate from teachers. The purchase complements PowerSchools latest 21st century gradebook, PowerTeacher Pro for top-level classroom management. In May 2016, PowerSchool acquired TIENET from Maximus, previously a PowerSchool ISV partner product. The addition expands on special education case management to add response to intervention, services capture, and IEP planning to improve the management and delivery of education to all students.
